Being lazy and a coffee head at the same time is the worst combination ever. You need coffee to start your day but are too lazy to run to the coffee shop. In those situations, having a programmable coffee maker is the best way out.

Haden is a popular name in that segment, and I’m guessing you have already heard about it since you are here for the reviews. Yes, It is a beautifully designed programmable coffee maker and has advanced features like delayed pouring.

But doesn’t that seem too good to be true for $80?

To find the answer, I bought it myself and came up with this review. Simply go through it and judge for yourself!

Haden 12 Cup Programmable Coffee Machine: Features You Must Know

This machine is more than just a compact and Pinterest-worthy coffee maker that will look good on your coffee bar. And here are some reasons why I think so.

Haden Coffee Maker

Makes Your Coffee Stronger Than Other Coffee Makers

The biggest selling point of this coffee maker is its ability to increase brew strength. If you aren’t satisfied with how strong your cup of joe is, you can simply push a button to delay the pouring time and get an enhanced taste.

The best part is, while you use this 30 sec delayed pour feature, you can easily remove the carafe, pour the normal brew, put the carafe back, and enjoy a different pour of stronger brew. So don’t worry if you and your partner’s preferred brew strength is different

You can even control the brew strength from the different brew functions that are pre-set in this coffee maker. The generously large LCD display gives an easy reading of the settings.

Be Worry-Free With Features Like Auto Shut-Off & Keep-Warm

If you are anything like me and forget to turn off devices after using them, then the auto shut-off feature will be one of your favorites. Suppose you were in a hurry and forgot to unplug the coffee maker; it will automatically turn off after 120 minutes.

Another great feature is the keep-warm function. How many times has it happened to you that you’ve put the ground coffee for brewing and got caught up in some other work? And when you return, you have a bleak and bitter brew staring at you. How irritating is that!

But with the keep-warm feature of this coffee maker, you will never be that unfortunate ever again.

Say Bye To Waste And Hi To Washable Filters

The coffee maker comes with a washable filter that is completely dishwasher safe. Cleaning it is super easy. You take it out as you would do with any paper filter and dump the used grounds. After that, throw it in the dishwasher, and it is as good as new.

But if you are not a fan of a permanent filter, you can easily replace it with paper filters; then you need to use #4 cone-size paper filters that fit perfectly in the coffee machine.

Modern Design And Colors To Choose From

This retro-looking coffee maker has looks that will definitely bring you some compliments. it is sleek and chic, plus it comes with a range of unusual colors that can perfectly vibe with any household.

My personal favorites are sage green and turquoise blue. But you can choose from other options like a classy putty and steal grey or go bold with rectory red. The choice is YOURS!

In case you are redoing your kitchen, you can even get their matching toaster, Cotswold or Dorset Kettle or even Microwave, to sync the overall look.

The bottom of the coffee maker has an extra space where you can coil up the extra length of cord to keep your kitchen top clutter-free.

Make Up to 12 Decent Cups At One Go

Don’t get fooled by the compactness of the device, as it easily brews 12 cups at a time. So it is perfect for big families or office spaces.

But what if you only need one cup? Don’t worry. The lower limit is two, and the highest is twelve. So if you don’t want twelve cups, simply put less water and coffee grounds, and you are all good.

Six Different Buttons, So No Confusion

In order to look more chic and classy, most high-end coffee makers use multifunctioning buttons. I personally feel that it is not very user-friendly and can create a lot of confusion for beginners or even elderly people.

But in Haden’s 12-cup programmable coffee maker, you get six assorted buttons that are single-functional. The buttons are: on/off, delay brew, program, hour, minute, and strength.

Measuring Gets Easy With A Water Scale

If you were wondering how you will measure the right amount of water if you are to make less than 12 cups, then they have solved this too.

On the left side of the coffee maker, you will find a water scale that will show you how much water you need to pour to make 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 cups of coffee. For double assurance, the glass carafe also comes labeled, so you know exactly how much water you need to make a perfect cup of coffee.

Super Easy Cleaning

I am a big germophobe, so I like to keep my utensils clean and sanitized. I was glad to find how easy to clean this coffee maker was.

Both the funnel and washable filter come off entirely, which you can then put in the dishwasher. The company claims that the glass carafe is dishwasher safe, too, so the curious kid inside me had to try it. And to my surprise, they didn’t lie!

How To Make A Decent Cup Of Coffee With Haden’s Drip Coffee Maker

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to brew a perfect cup with the help of Haden’s drip coffee maker.

Step 1: Assuming you are using this coffee maker for the first time, first, you need to put the funnel inside, followed by the permanent coffee filter.

Step 2: Then, you need to pour water into the water compartment. The compartment is see-through and has measurements on the side, so you can see how much water you need and how much you are pouring into it.

Step 3: Put an adequate amount of ground coffee into the filter. Usually, 20 grams of ground coffee is enough to make two cups (16 oz) of drip coffee.

Step 4: Press the program button, set hours and then minutes of the time at which you want your coffee maker to brew the coffee, and you are done.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I use another glass carafe if this one breaks by accident?

Yes. You can replace the broken glass carafe with a new one. Just make sure the dimensions are the same. A Mr. Coffee carafe PLD12-1 will work fine with it.

2. How long is the power cord?

Measuring from the back of the machine, the cord is approximately 33 inches long.

3. Will the brew taste good from the first day, or will it have a plastic taste in the beginning?

The coffee maker brews a perfect cup of coffee from the very first time. So you don’t have to worry about having a nasty plastic taste in your favourite cup of java.

4. Does the coffee maker have a metal or plastic body?

The outer shell of the coffee maker is made of plastic. However, that does not take away from its durability or retro aesthetics.

5. Can I make espresso with this coffee maker?

No, you can’t. It is a simple drip coffee maker, and you can only brew drip coffee with this. To make espresso, you need to purchase a separate espresso maker.

Summary Of Haden Coffee Maker Reviews: Is It Worth It?

Overall, the coffee maker does what it claims. But is this the best in class? Sadly no. I felt the performance is like that of any $50 drip coffee maker.

But then, when I looked at their entire kitchen appliance range, I really had to resist the urge to buy everything. As someone who loves to decorate their home, the extra $30 or $40 might not seem much.

So if you are not a big coffee critic and want a pretty-looking coffee maker that does the job, definitely go for it!
